Important: This article only applies to locations that contain Ecofit sensor hardware such as the Relay, Button or Tracker.
The Gateway is the central receiver for all sensors within a facility. It is important that this device stay powered and connected to a stable internet connection at all times.
You can check the status of the Gateway at any time by accessing the facility page.
Check the Gateway Status
On the facility page of the portal review the Gateway Status on the Gateway Card.
Nickname:
This is an optional field that can be used to denote the install location (if more than one Gateway is used in a facility).
Reference Code:
This is the serial number that is present on the Gateway, located on the front label next to the QR Code.
Gateway Status:
Online/Offline means that the Gateway has/has not sent data recently to the Ecofit servers.
Update Status:
Up-To-Date/Update Required. Update required means that the Gateway needs to be restarted in order to update its software or configuration.
Last Reported:
This is the last time that Data was sent to Ecofit.
Troubleshooting
Gateway is Offline:
Check the Gateway and ensure it is receiving power and has a stable hardwired internet connection. A physical assessment should be performed on the unit to ensure there is not noticeable damage and all antenna are securely attached.
Gateway is unpowered:
Simply plug it back in. The unit will power back up ant attempt to connect automatically.
Gateway is not connected to the internet:
Reconnect the Gateway to an active hardwired connection and ensure that it has un-blocked access to all necessary network ports.
Note that if the Gateway was powered and only disconnected from the network it is possible that data was buffered for the duration of the outage. This data (depending on length of time offline) will automatically submit and update your equipment as necessary. This will take some time but will not impact standard functionality of the system.
Next Steps
If the Gateway has been unpowered for an extended amount of time you should allow it to connect and gather data for any sensor still connected. Optimally this would take place over a few days to normalize the data.
Once this time has passed you should notice that the equipment status has been updated for a number of pieces of equipment. This will give you a better idea about which units need attention and which are reporting normally.
