The installer should consider where the Gateway(s) will be installed and how many will be required for the job.
The following questions should be considered when choosing a location:
Does the facility have any network security?
The Gateway must be connected to an active internet connection in order to function. Some considerations must be made at the facility to allow for functionality.
- Out of the box, the Gateway is configured to request and accept an IP address via DHCP.
- The Gateway must be wired to a Cat5/Cat6 ethernet connection. The Gateway does not have WiFi.
- The Gateway requires access to the following ports:
Endpoint |
Port |
Description |
*.amazonaws.com |
MQTT: 443, 8883 (Outbound) HTTPS: 443, 8443 (Outbound) |
AWS services. |
*.myecofit.com | HTTPS: 443 (Outbound) | Ecofit APIs. |
*.ngrok.com | HTTPS: 443 (Outbound) |
Remote Access |
ntp.ubuntu.com | UDP: 123 |
Time update server (Required for accurate data) |
How many Gateways are required to finish the job?
Up to 500 sensors can be assigned to a single Gateway.
Is there an active power outlet and internet port within reach of the Gateway?
The Gateway does not have WiFi. Each Gateway system requires a hardwired internet connection.
Is the Gateway within about 50 meters of the farthest piece of networked equipment?
If there is networked equipment farther than 50 meters away from the Gateway, a second Gateway may need to be installed at a closer distance.
Please note that the facility layout may also impact the Gateway range. Range obstructions can include:
- Elevators
- Load bearing walls (Cinderblock/Rebar)
- Stairwells
- Fire doors
For multi-floor clubs, it is suggested that the Gateway be installed on the same floor as the cardio equipment.
